Seacoast of Bohemia

I have seen two such sights, by sea and by land! But I am not to say it is a sea, for it is now the sky:
Betwixt the firmament and it you cannot thrust a bodkin's point.

Hedghog-watching

So I’ve just finished making my first-ever exam. I think I’ve probably gone overboard a bit on the instructions – I hope that doesn’t lead to more anxiety than it allays! But I really really don’t want people to fail just because they didn’t answer the questions in the correct manner. It’s a standard format: one half identifications/short answer; one half short essay on a theme from among those I suggest. We’ll see what kind of responses I get!

My move is drawing ever closer! I hope I now have the ridiculousness involved in moving Ernest under control, but I’m sure something new could crop up at any moment. I’m driving to Richmond on Thursday to make sure the USDA approves the form they need to approve, and then we should be all set to get on the plane. Except for the flea and tick treatment he has to get, which must be done no more than 48 hours and no less than 24 hours before he checks in. Which means on moving day. It’s a good thing my vet is nice and patient!

It will all be worth it, though, to have Ernest with us in England. Imagine! He’ll be able to watch English robins and possibly hedgehogs or badgers or some other iconic English animal (lions? unicorns? corgis?) out the window! And that cat from next door he hates so much will be a whole ocean away.

Next steps are: test out his crate to see if he can stand up in it without his ears touching the top (I cannot believe this is actually required); order a new crate if he cannot; despair at paying several hundred more dollars if I need to do that; do a trial run of packing to see how much I can get in 2-3 suitcases; begin putting my books in boxes.

I’m both terribly excited and apprehensive. Two weeks today!

I can't believe how soon you're going to be miles away across the ocean! Ryan and I are really excited for you (don't think we're not going to come see you!)! Good luck with everything and congrats again on everything!
