Yesterday was a Clay Aiken day. That's better than thinking of it as a frustrating day, which it was also, to a large extent. But making it a ClayDay makes it better.
So first I got up at the very productive hour of 3:30 and graded for a long time. (I didn't intend to get up then, no. But I did, and that's very productive time for me.
Then I got a call midmorning that my laptop was, joy of joys, finally back to Best Buy, from whence I dispatched it about six weeks ago to try again with fixing the power supply problem I've been having. Sadly, however, when I went over there, it turned out that the Gateway people had apparently replaced something that has absolutely nothing to do with the power supply and then not even checked to see if it fixed anything. Which it didn't. So the tech commiserated with me ("my mind is as blown as yours," he told me), promised to put double "please expidite" messages on the service order, and said that if they don't fix it this time, I will likely get store credit for a new computer. If so, I think I'm buying a Mac.
Anyway, while at the store I finally bought Clay's new CD. It came out Tuesday, but I had been delaying for financial reasons, and finally, when I was there at Best Buy I could no longer resist. So I bought it. Then, in the grocery store after I left Best Buy, they played "This is the Night." Then at the checkout I saw that People Magazine had a Clay feature! So I bought it. And read the article (not very deeply or responsibly written, but this is exactly what one ought to expect out of People Magazine, which I generally loathe) and put the pictures of Clay on my wall. So all that was a wonderful sort of Convergence of Clay, which helped to allay the misery of the computer situation. I am aware that the radio play and the People magazine both probably have to do wtih publicity for the release of the album, but I do not so much care. It cheered me up to feel like Clay was in some sense there to allay my AC adaptor woes.
Meanwhile, I've been working on the homepage to my new site a lot, and though it still isn't much to speak of, it's getting better. And I'm learning. You can click the "Home" tab at the top and see, if you want.
Also: it's time for me to go do something besides go to best buy, work, or play on the web. I'm going outside.
