Things that are wrong and some solutions to them
1. Coffee maker makes the coffee, but it only heats it to lukewarm temperature
a) Get a better coffee maker!
i) This one is very easy to fix
2. Refrigerator is dirty and also drips because the freezer compartment is missing its door. This also results in the inability to keep frozen items.
a) Short-term solution: clean out the refrigerator again.
i) This not so hard, but is time-consuming and messy. Basically you just have to blast the freezer compartment with the hairdryer until all the ice melts off.
ii) Long-term solution: move.
3. House is moldy and gives us sore throats and runny noses.
a) Move.
4. Coffee table is too small
a) IKEA!
5. There is a wardrobe in the living room/my clothes rack fell down and now there is nowhere to put my clothes
a) Move so we can put the wardrobe in the living room in the bedroom. It is in the living room because it will not fit up the stairs.
6. Kitchen and dining room smell funny
a) Change Ernest's litter box/get rid of the plant he peed in.
7. I don't have any money/anything to occupy my time
a) Get a job
b) Work on dissertation
As you can see, only number 7 is a real problem! This is perhaps a useful exercise! Which is why I'm now going to look at what the government here requires of employers who employ someone on a spouse visa. I am worried I will encounter prejudice because I am an immigrant and because I am now quite heavy, but hopefully my worries will come to naught. I am, after all, an American immigrant, which people generally don’t think of when they are being nasty about immigrants, and I doubt I'll even know it if I experience appearance-related discrimination.
Moving, of course, will also be hard/unpleasant, but nothing we haven't coped with before!
Also: we got married! I was great, and I'm glad we did it. Also that I will never have to plan a wedding again.
