Seacoast of Bohemia

I have seen two such sights, by sea and by land! But I am not to say it is a sea, for it is now the sky:
Betwixt the firmament and it you cannot thrust a bodkin's point.

been so sick

Oh, I've been so sick. So sick my back hurts from having been so sick. I had some sort of stomach flu. I can't remember the last time I had anything like that -- though I'm not one of those people who's never ill, the kind of nastiness I had yesterday and the day before is, as Jamie pointed out, something you rarely experience out of childhood. For about two days, I alternated forty-five minutes of fitful, painful sleep with dreadful vomiting. Yuck. (Luckily for me, I have not contracted the week-long version of this illness, which some of the people in the department have had.)

Last night, though, I slept all night and had dreams about all sorts of things I never dream about (teaching; being happy with my body; the color pink; climbing; getting irritated with somebody) so I'm clearly better. Now I would like oatmeal, but since I'm out of money I know I shouldn't go buy some.

Eeeew. Glad you are feeling better - but you really should buy some oatmeal! Who's too broke for oatmeal? (I will SEND you oatmeal if the answer to the question is "me.")
