Seacoast of Bohemia

I have seen two such sights, by sea and by land! But I am not to say it is a sea, for it is now the sky:
Betwixt the firmament and it you cannot thrust a bodkin's point.

New Orleans triplog day 8

11:26 p.m. 26 March 2002

Day Eight: Sunday

Contrary to everyone's expectations, we not only get off on time, but earlier than we'd planned, leaving Carrie's at 7:30. We eat McDonald's for breakfast in Mississippi and Waffle House for dinner in Tennessee, and other than that stop very little and make incredibly magnificent time. Even Tennessee, with all its devilshness, cannot slow us.

We are only halted by very hard rains in Virginia, which cause us to have to pull off the road at Emory and Henry College. Jamie and I really have to go to the bathroom, and run to the nearest building, which is, we think, a boy's dorm. The boys watching cars on t.v. motion us, confusedly and mutely, towards a bathroom, and Jamie and I use it. All are very wet and cell phone reception is bad, but we make it back onto the road in one piece, and Jamie, champion driver as well as scrabble player, gets us to Roanoke even in the driving rain, where we all spend the night at my parents' house.

In the morning, Jamie takes her car back to Charlottesville, and Jess and I take mine, and the trip is over.

The end.

(Tim Curry laughs.)
